Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 3rd Annual

RNA as a Drug Target

Using Small Molecules and Oligos to Modulate RNA for Covid and Other Disease Indications

September 28-29, 2021

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has brought RNA to the forefront as a target for therapeutic and diagnostic development. Now there is an increased focus on understanding the structure and function of the various RNA moieties present in the cell, the proteins they interact with and the role they play in infection, inflammation and other disease conditions. There is also increased interest in finding small molecules and oligos that can modulate the RNA function to get the desired biological outcome. However, defining which RNA to target and how/where to target it is not easy, as some of the disease mechanisms and RNA ligand binding sites are not very well understood. Challenges also exist in terms of specificity, selectivity, and safety of these molecules when targeting RNA in vivo. Cambridge Healthtech Institute's conference on RNA as a Drug Target will highlight some of the innovative approaches being pursued to target RNA for therapeutic intervention.

Who should attend: Scientists in Discovery Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, Assay Development, Screening, ADME/PKPD, Toxicology

Coverage will include, but is not limited to:

  • Tools for identifying the right RNA target for therapeutic intervention
  • Determining the structural and physicochemical constraints for RNA-ligand interactions
  • Strategies for characterization and lead optimization of RNA-targeting molecules
  • Bioanalytical/phenotypic screening for identifying and quantifying RNA binding
  • Optimizing the efficacy and safety of candidates for clinical development
  • Tackling concerns surrounding specificity, stability, biodistribution and pharmacodynamics
  • Addressing issues related to drug delivery and safety
